FASHION TIPS FOR LOOKING BEAUTIFUL AND YOU!
Here are a few tips for baby-boomers to keep you up-to-date (feeling and looking great!):
FOLLOW OR DEVELOP YOUR PERSONAL STYLE.
Most of us already know our personal style, and what suits us best, by the time we reach fifty. But take a fresh, unadulterated look at your style. Have you adapted and are you enhancing your best qualities? Are you stuck in the 70s or 80s?
If you are a “jeans relaxed” woman, be sure your jeans are cut right and you have the perfect top. If you are a classics woman, have you updated your skirt and pumps and accessories lately?
If you are retired, have your clothes adapted to your activities? If you are playing alot of golf, tennis or biking, do you have the sports styles that make you feel and look good? Do you do daily yoga and meditation, or work in your garden – do you clothes suit this? When you go to church, group meetings, clubs or get together with friends, are you reflecting your personal style (even in the most casual way?)
Remember, the goal is to shine through so that people see YOU and YOU feel comfortable and great!
TAKE A LOOK AT THE FASHION MAGAZINES.
You don’t have to copy or follow fashion, but be aware of what is new and see if you can adapt it to your personal style. You might want to add at least one outfit matching both your personal style as well as this year’s fashions to your wardrobe.
While Reading those Magazines, DO Eschew passing fads (especially those mean for teenagers or those in their 20s).
Do not wear what teenagers are wearing (unless of course this is your personal style and you want to give it a go.) But remember, part of “Personal Style” is to look and feel your best, not stand out in a bad or dated way.
ACCESSORIES ARE STILL A BIG DEAL.
Keep a close look on your watches, shoes, belts, and other accessories. Have them up-to-date, fresh and shining.
You can Make a fashion statement with your handbag or briefcase.
TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT YOUR OLDER PIECES.
Remember that clothes, like batteries, do not stay fresh forever. You might be in love with that blazer, dress or skirt, but it could be showing its age and you haven’t noticed.
YOUR HAIRCUT & MAKEUP MAKE A DIFFERENCE, TOO.
You are working to refresh or update your look, but be sure to do the same with your hair and makeup. This is part of your personal style, too. If your hair is outdated or not well cut, or you still wear the same hairstyle you did in the 80s, you might be undermining your best style.
Be sure you are moisturizing your skin, using peptides to boost collagen, and working for healthy skin.
Of course, rules are made to be broken.
If you look great with long hair and you take care of it well, even if this with your style in your 30s, and it is part of your personal style, then go for it. But just take a look with fresh eyes.
HELP?
Maybe you realize you need to update some pieces and shake it up a bit, but don’t know where to start. You might tap into a personal shopper who is a professional at it. Or talk to some stylish friends who could help. Same with a hairstylish.
